The last year has been a difficult time for everyone - but it has hit the vulnerable and elderly in our communities the hardest. Many of them have had to endure an unprecedented period of anxiety and confinement - not being able to spend time with loved ones while also dealing with the constant bad news. Too often are they pushed to a corner of society, so we feel it’s the perfect time to put them back in the spotlight and bring some positivity back into their (and our) lives.

We want to acknowledge their experience, honour their long lives and individual stories, and remind ourselves of the importance of their presence within our communities. In a sense, this pandemic has invited us to revisit the age-old mantra, "respect your elders".
