Marisa & Fred

This piece was inspired by my grandparents. The last conversation I had with them was about their appointment to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Like many others, they have spent most of the past year isolating and separated from family. They hope that at some point this vaccine will help bring some semblance of normality back into their lives, especially since they have still been unable to visit with and hold their new great grandchild.

This year has been extra trying for them since they had to deal with the sudden loss of their beloved pet, so I felt it was important for her to be a part of this illustration. They have now been able to share their love with a new puppy who has brought joy into their home.
